BEIJING – Chinese stocks opened lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.17 percent to open at 3,381.82 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index opened 0.36 percent lower at 12,813.49 points.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, was down 0.62 percent to open at 2,764.62 points Monday.

The ChiNext Index, together with the Shenzhen Component Index and other indices, reflects the performance of stocks listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
