BEIJING – China's commercial cargo transport logged steady growth in the first quarter of the year (Q1), data from the Ministry of Transport showed.

The country's commercial freight volume went up 1.5 percent year on year to 11.29 billion tonnes in the period, according to the ministry.

A total of 8.15 billion tonnes of road cargo were transported in Q1, up 0.4 percent from the same period last year

China's water freight volume amounted to 1.93 billion tonnes in the same period, climbing 5.2 percent from one year earlier, the data showed.
