China will continue to expand its opening-up of the financial industry, according to Li Yunze, Party secretary of the National Financial Regulatory Administration.

Li, who is also head of the administration, made the remarks on Monday during a meeting with Jane Fraser, CEO of Citi.

The Chinese side introduced Fraser and those with her to China's financial and economic development as well as its financial supervision, and said that the country will further open up the financial markets, according to a statement from the administration on Wednesday.

Citi expressed strong confidence in the prospects of the Chinese economy and the financial industry in China, saying Citi will continue to expand presence in the country leveraging on its advantages.

The two sides also exchanged views on issues of common concerns including the international financial situation, according to a statement from the administration.
