MACAO – Macao's gaming industry revenue increased 58.0 percent year on year in March 2021, the special administrative region's (SAR) gaming industry watchdog said on Thursday.

The accumulated revenue in the first three months of this year reached 23.64 billion patacas (US$2.95 billion), down by 22.5 percent year on year

Macao's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau said in its latest report that the gaming revenue was 8.306 billion patacas (US$1.04 billion) in March, an increase of 58.0 percent year on year.

The accumulated revenue in the first three months of this year reached 23.64 billion patacas (US$2.95 billion), down by 22.5 percent year on year.

Macao's monthly gaming revenue kept a year-on-year decrease in 2020 due to the impact of COVID-19 and the following tightened travel restrictions to the SAR. However, the drop in monthly gaming revenue has been easing in the second half of 2020.

In February this year, the monthly gaming revenue soared 135.6 percent year on year.
