Experienced banker Angela Liu has been named Barclays' chief executive officer for the Chinese mainland. 

Liu joins Barclays from Deutsche Bank, where she was head of the institutional client group for the mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. 

Before that, she was at Morgan Stanley in New York and the HKSAR. She has also served as chairman of Morgan Stanley Bank International (China). She will report to Jaideep Khanna, head of Barclays, Asia Pacific.

Barclays said Liu will help expand the bank’s current cross-border corporate and investment bank platform and capabilities model.   

Liu will also lead Barclays’ mainland growth initiatives in global marketsand work with Grace Kuo, Barclays’ Shanghai branch manager.
