BEIJING – Chinese stocks closed mixed Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.03 percent, at 3,606.37 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.98 percent higher at 15,150.17 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.02 trillion yuan (US$157.51 billion), down from 1.05 trillion yuan the previous trading day.

Shares related to chips led the gains, while those related to coal and finance saw losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.95 percent to close at 3,412.86 points.
